The David Besst Award is presented to an individual and/or organization that has made a significant contribution to services, policy change, or research in family caregiving in Arizona. The award honors the awardees but also David Besst, who untiringly worked to establish resources and respite for family caregivers. A second award goes to a family caregiver for their contributions to family and/or other caregivers.
Nominations are due on February 29, 2025.
Honorees will be recognized with a plaque at the Family Caregiver Day at the Arizona Capitol on April 17, 2025. To nominate an individual or organization, please complete this form. Be sure to provide details on your nominee; this is the only information used for the selection.

About Family Caregiver Day at the Arizona Capitol

Family Caregiver Day is an annual event hosted by the Arizona Caregiver Coalition, bringing together caregivers, advocates, policymakers, and community organizations to raise awareness about caregiving issues and celebrate the contributions of family caregivers across Arizona. This important event provides caregivers and supporters the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations about the policies, challenges, and support systems that impact caregiving in the state.

Breakout Sessions for Sharing Stories
Caregivers are invited to share their personal caregiving experiences in small group breakout sessions. This supportive space fosters connection and helps amplify the voices of those caring for loved ones. David Besst Award Presentation
One of the highlights of Family Caregiver Day is the presentation of the David Besst Award, an honor given to an individual who has made a significant impact on improving the quality of life for family caregivers in Arizona. Support for Family Caregivers Campaign
Learn about the Arizona Caregiver Coalition’s Support for Family Caregivers Campaign and discover how you can advocate for caregivers' rights and access to resources. Attendees will be encouraged to show their support for family caregivers by participating in advocacy efforts and exploring ways to provide ongoing assistance to caregivers in need.
